A Staffordshire Moorlands based architectural consultancy is growing by design as it reaches its sixth birthday.

DBD Architectural Consultancy Ltd was founded by Andrew Dukesell in his Leek home in 2011.

The business has grown to employ four people and Andrew has forecast further growth in 2017.

“The number and size of projects we have taken on has grown each year and this means we can look to give an opportunity to another young architectural technician in the near future,” said Andrew..

A love of buildings and design, and inspiration from close friend and renowned Architect, Edward Cullinan led Andrew to retrain as an architectural technician in 2000 having previously worked in engineering.

Now he is giving the same opportunity to two young staff members having also introduced his wife, Tracy, into the Broad Street based business as office manager.

“I’m passionate about great design and helping our customers achieve their dreams and I feel privileged to now be able to pass on that passion to our young team,” said Andrew.

“We have introduced Jack Cannon, a recent graduate, and Hannah Mountford, who came to us following A-levels, as a trainee into the business.”

DBD’s success was initially built on design projects for home owners, but the practice is now taking on a variety of domestic and commercial projects.

“We have built an excellent reputation with home owners across the Midlands and North West and are now driving further growth with commercial design schemes,” explained Andrew who had previously mainly worked designing commercial developments, particularly in healthcare.

Work has recently been completed on the conversion of the two upper floors of Alexander Mill, Leek, and DBD has now been asked to draw up plans for another old mill in nearby Well Street.

A large commercial commission saw Andrew plan the transformation of a disused steel foundry in Walsall.
